Lucky☆Star Fandom
Some of you may have seen me wearing the above shirt. The last time I went to Japan, I was desperate for an anime t-shirt (was sick of Bleach, Naruto and One Piece t-shirts!). So I bought this. What anime is it? Who cares! Looked cute and had an interesting plastic-model layout to it too.
Well, actually it's a four-panel manga called Lucky☆Star, similar to Azumanga Daioh. Almost one year down the line, they made an anime out of it! Not bad huh, my t-shirt choice. Lucky☆me!
What's more, Lucky☆Star is animated by the prolific Kyoto Animation (or KyoAni, for short), the people who brought you Full Metal Panic Fumoffu & Second Raid, Air, Kanon and the crazed The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. They are known for their effort in animation, animating the smallest of things to make the scene more life-like.
(Here's an interesting fact: KyoAni employees never work overtime, unlike other anime studios!)
For those who have watched Suzumiya Haruhi, who can ever forget the crazy smooth para-para dance in the ending sequence? Here's the link to the full dance, DVD version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2HpAE-QcQA. Die-hard fans studied the sequence, hence many, and I really mean MANY MANY, parody videos spawned on YouTube. Click here to view them.
And yes, KyoAni is at it again! They have created a dance sequence for Lucky☆Star, again with the smooth body and clothes movement. Many of you might find the opening sequence childish, but just watch it to take note of the movement for the next videos.
Lucky☆Star OP Sequence
Just only a few episodes out, fans have already started creating loads of parodies! For me to call myself an anime fan is a total overstatement, after I watched the following:
Lucky☆Star OP (Gunpla version)
Lucky☆Star OP (Rockman version)
Long live anime otakus! d-(^_^)-b
